~* The Brief *~

In this media studies project I am going to be designing a front page and double spread sheet for a magazine I will be making. I will have to research and analyze different magazines to influence me and aid me to make a good quality magazine that suits my targeted audience. I will also be looking at how magazines use their font and colours, camera angles,covers stories and layout in order to suit their targeted audience. I already have many ideas on what I want the outcome of my magazine to be but I'm open to changing whatever needs to be, to improve the appeal and produce an outstanding piece. Although I'm very open about the direction my magazine may go, in regards to the genre, I'm drawn towards a Hip-Hop themed magazine as, this is the type of music I listen to and I think it is best to work with what you know; also, a variety of new Hip Hop music is currently being released. I also like Pop music which I am also considering doing, as I like how it is presented and feel each artist represents themselves in a different outlook, however continues to stick with the genre. Throughout the course I will be researching how magazines present their work. I've begun to look at a few magazines and I like how bold VIBE's masthead is as it really catches the reader's eye. This makes me consider my own work, where I think it will be effective to have a bold and eye - catching element to create an extensive effect. I've also looked at Billboard magazine, as it is interesting to see how different genres present themselves in different ways. I intend to look at a variety of magazines to help me throughout my research and will show my work in different ways.
